“Hi everyone! My name is Obrian Madourie, otherwise called Astro or Astronaut. I'm a jovial person. I love riding my bike and I love to race. I have represented Jamaica two times in the Caribbean Cycling Championships.”
Obrian Madourie “ASTRO”
Astro is a fixture on the beautiful coast road from Montego Bay to Ocho Rios. He usually rises before dawn to ride 60 miles before his work day begins. Astro is one of our few cyclists you can follow on Strava, where his miles are prolific. One local cyclist summed Astro up perfectly when he said smiling in patois, “Astro live on his bike” and all heads shook “yes” and smiled in agreement. Astro is friendly and attentive and too humble to say why Master Cyclist Fowly gave Astro his rocket referenced nickname but you get the picture. After his work day is finished, Astro bikes home up steep, curvy hills, adding another daily workout and the climbing fortitude for which he is known. Astro is always willing to help others, generously guides other cyclists, seems quiet at first, but opens up the whole world when he smiles at you with that twinkle in his eyes!
“Let me introduce myself: my name is Rashain Clarke, known as Feedman. I am a cyclist. I am from the beautiful parish of Portland located in Jamaica. Whenever I am not cycling I am reading articles and listening to music. I live by the Eddy Merckx quote: “When it’s hurting you, that’s when you can make the difference”.
RASHAIN CLARKE “FEEDMAN” aka Twinie and Bob
My strengths are that I am a hard working young cyclist, a self motivated person and a good team player. My goal in life is to get a good job, build stability and generate wealth for myself and my family. Love Rashain”
Rashain’s racing phenotype is close to an allrounder, he climbs, sprints, and has endurance.
Rashain’s smile lights up his eyes and he easily makes others laugh. He is even-tempered, loves family, and has an identical twin which explains his nickname “Twinie” but we can’t explain “Bob”! He is a serious, focused, and passionate cyclist and is fun-loving off the bike.
“I’m Kemar Sommonds, a 24-year-old Jamaican cyclist from Port”land. Introduced to cycling by a friend, I soon rode across the island and later raced in several U.S. states.”
KEMAR SOMMONDS “BREADMAN”
When I'm on a break from cycling, I am working at a hardware business or fishing to get income. Cycling helps me maintain my physical and mental health in a way that no treadmill or therapist could. Whether it's on the road or through a trail, my bicycle will always help in giving me a peace of mind.”
What Kemar doesn’t mention is that working at hardware includes unloading tractor trailer flatbeds of cinderblock and 50-100 lb bags of cement, and working at spearfishing includes night spearfishing with a snorkel and encountering sharks off the reef, and the part about being sophisticated was probably added by his GF! Kemar is talented with voice impressions and singing and can recite most of the Shrek movie franchise, especially the waffle-loving Donkey, voiced by Eddie Murphy! Waffles are kind of like bread! Kemar is the kind of rider who measures routes by how much they make him suffer and how far they make him return.
He trains long endurance days that build patience. His power profile is honest — repeated, hard efforts; an explosive kick.
“Cycling is my passion! Cycling has brought me so many new experiences! I only dreamed it would have taken me this far so soon! I have been coast to coast over the USA and Caribbean countries of Antigua, Barbados, and the Dominican Republic. Cycling has allowed me to make friends in all these places as well as all over the beautiful island of Jamaica”
KHALIL FRANCIS “JUNIOR” aka “Tweety”
I am 18 and I miss my mom, sister, and brother when I travel but they are proud and happy for me to have success as a cyclist and to keep learning and setting and achieving new goals. My goals are to participate and do well at the World Championship Road Races and beyond. I have increased my fitness and expertise enormously since being trained by Coach Peter Aldridge, who helped me win the Chicago Grit Cat 3 Omnium of 10 races in 2025 and is helping me return in 2026. I am grateful for everyone’s support!”
Khalil just requested an pgrade to Cat 2- as an 18 year-old it was not mandatory but he has over 70 points in Cat 3.
(At 30 points he would have been automatically increased if he was older.) In his first Cat 2 race he placed 5th in a large field in which he felt he would have placed higher if not for the breakaway lapping the peloton and causing a bit of a traffic jam at the finish line! You never know how a race will unfold but Khalil is a smart and savvy racer who places himself to make the most out of each and every race! He is ranked 75 out of 123 U23 USAC racers after one Cat 2 race.
Khalil has an explosive sprint and an endurance core that refuses to bend on day three, five, ten.
“My name is Kemari Hamilton, also known as Junior 2. I am 18 years old and I am a very creative person. I am very loving. I love to look out for others as much as they look out for me. I love my cycling! As a young 18 year old just starting I see a bright future ahead of me in it and I will keep it up to the best of my ability.”
KEMARI HAMILTON “JUNIOR 2”
I also love music and very exciting entertainment and I am very good at acting. And that is an introduction of my self. Nice to meet you! Thank you all, Kemari.
Kemari has had many jobs and skills and is always learning more. He has worked in restaurant, helps with social media, outdoor labor of construction and landscape, and farming with goats, pigs, cows, and birds. He loves animals and you can tell he is a gentle soul, but on the bike he is a fierce competitor as well as a hard worker. We saw him hanging with Khalil on the last training sprint video shared!
MELAIKA RUSSELL
Melaika won Junior Road Championships in Jamaica, Florida, and the Caribbean with Coach Peter. She originally was a great track runner and swimmer and wanted to improve on the bike for triathlons; she improved so much she took top step in Junior Women’s events several years in a row in several states and countries, being Coached by Coach Peter! She is currently studying and racing on her university’s triathlon team.
Her athletic and academic successes translated into a full four year athletic scholarship in Chicago. Congratulations, Melaika!

JAVELL
Javell, like Frank, races in very young categories that, so far, have fewer juniors than we would like. Younger riders often find themselves falling off the mixed peloton, facing the wind, and calling on great fortitude and mental strength to complete their races. It is amazing to watch their determination and increasing speeds, fitness, technique. and skills at every event! We are hoping to get funding to have Javell train with Coach Peter as they live far apart.
